Matthias' garage

My name is Matthias Hohlrieder and I am a professional triathlete. I train an average of 25-30 hours per week, a good 50% of which I spend on the bike.

Why do you ride?
The sport of triathlon has evolved immensely over the past 10 years. Already at the age of 10 I had the goal to become a professional triathlete. Since then, a lot has happened, the sport has become more professional in many respects. What you dream of as a naive little boy, is 20 years later hard reality. But this everyday life as an athlete fulfills me. I am currently living my dream and am very grateful for it.
I'm not a big fan of "ranking goals". If you're only driven by success, it can get very lonely when things aren't going so well. Everyone wants to win, that's for sure - otherwise we wouldn't all be on the starting line. But what really motivates me is to get the maximum out of myself. To work on myself every day, week after week, month after month, year after year.

Canyon Aeroad

I spend most of my training time on my current Canyon Aeroad. Due to the slightly longer wheelbase, it is stable on the road, especially on high-speed descents I am always impressed by the smoothness of the wheel. Although one might think that this "racing machine" should be supposedly uncomfortable, I claim the absolute opposite (if you had good bike fitting). On my last project "Mallorca Dawn to Dusk 312km" (see video) I rode around the island without stopping once.
